Religious monuments are one of the major components in the formation and construction of cities, and their existence is still a necessary in the expansion of urban spaces. Local mosques were one of the main constituents in the formation of the city and the main constituents in Iranian cities, during the Qajar period had a significant cultural and religious function. This Paper aims to is aimed at investigate the role of local mosques of Kermanshah in the development of the quarters and the urban structures during the Qajar period. Based on primary written sources historical and urban research, remote sensing resources such as aerial photos, historical maps and local reports. The results indicated that local mosques were usually constructed in central and important parts of the city’s historical structure, so that their location would bring them a considerable importance in the hierarchical structure of the city and effect their surrounding urbanism procedure. On the other hand, the centers of the quarters, on a smaller scale, acted as a city center for their residences. The quarter’s center was constructed around a mosque at the center of the Local included a Hosseiniyeh or a Tekyeh which to the main Bazaar or at least one or several shops for supplying the needs of its inhabitants as well as Hammam, a school and/or a caravanserai.
